One shop you don’t want to miss the next time you’re in the Smoky Mountains is Ogle Brothers General Store. They are a pretty unusual shop, but you’ll have a lot of fun walking through the building. They have a history rooted in the Smokies.
The Ogle family is well known in the Sevier County area. The first Ogles settled in East Tennessee in 1925 on the Five Oaks property. They worked the land to provide for their family, and their legacy continues today through several businesses, including Ogle Brothers General Store. You’ll find authentic southern hospitality here, and you may even spot a few photos of John and Blanche Ogle when you step inside the store!
This store sells all kinds of cool items.
Of course, since this is a general store, you’ll find all kinds of products for sale. One of the most popular is outdoor gear. That includes On Cloud shoes, World’s Softest Socks, Eno hammocks, and much more.
As you enter the front door, you’ll be greeted with a seasonal display of figurines, candles, home decor, and more. There are plenty of wall hangings, figurines, and other trinkets placed throughout the store. Near the checkout, you’ll find stickers, magnets, and children’s toys.
If you continue towards the left side of the store, you’ll find hand poured soy wax candles in a variety of scents, locally crafted lotion and soap, as well as pottery that has been handmade in the store.
At the back, you will find an entire kitchen section full of gadgets, their own pickled and canned pantry items, soup mixes, seasoning blends, tea blends, and much more. There’s also a candy and sweets counter where you can find decadent fudge, gooey cookies, and all of the fruity candy you can think of.
They have an online store.
Ogle Brothers General Store isn’t just a brick and mortar. They do have an online store as well! While not all of the wares they offer in store are online, you will find a huge selection of pickled items, jams, salsas, seasonings, and apparel.
It’s not just a general store.
While you may think this general store is just a store, it’s much more than that. It’s a place to try out some of the products they sell. You can test hand soap to see if you like the scent. You can taste one of their soups or dips that they have made for the day. They also may have a tea or other drink ready to serve as well.
As we mentioned, the pottery is made in house, and guests have the opportunity to watch first hand. The pottery studio and kiln are in an open area where visitors can watch potters at work and even ask them questions.
If you head outside to the courtyard between the store and Cruze Farm, you’ll find rocking chairs, huge porch swings, and other places to relax. On occasion, you may find live entertainment in this area! Ogle Brothers is a place to shop, relax, and just enjoy yourself.
