That means after you finish eating with us, you will have plenty of energy to go enjoy fantastic adventures right here in the Smoky Mountains. One of the best ways to take in the area’s scenic beauty after eating with us is by going hiking along one of the region’s many trails, which is why we have put together a helpful list of some great spots to go hiking in the Smoky Mountains after you enjoy a meal at Five Oaks Farm Kitchen!

1. Laurel Falls Trail

Among the most popular places to go hiking in the Smoky Mountains, Laurel Falls Trail is a 2.4-mile trail near Gatlinburg that features views of the impressive 80-foot waterfall for which the trail is named. Overall, this hike is considered relatively easy for beginners, so you can bring the whole family when you check out this scenic trail here in the Smokies.

2. Sugarlands Valley Nature Trail

One of the most accessible trails for families, the Sugarlands Valley Nature Trail is a perfect option to get out and about after having a meal with us if you have young children, older family members, or anyone who cannot walk long distances. Although the trail is less than a mile long in total, there are plenty of interesting sights along the way such as portions of historic homesteads and more. You can easily access this trail from a parking lot right near Sugarlands Visitor Center, making this a perfect stop for all families.

3. Gatlinburg Trail

Another relatively easy, but slightly longer trail that can be a great option for hiking in the Smoky Mountains after joining us for a meal is the Gatlinburg Trail. Like the Sugarlands Valley Nature Trail, you can access the trailhead from right near the Sugarlands Visitor Center and take the trail all the way to the outskirts of Gatlinburg! Along the way, you will be able to enjoy views of the Little Pigeon River, historic homesteads, and more, making this a great destination to visit while you are in the area.

4. Rainbow Falls Trail

For those who desire a longer and more challenging hike, Rainbow Falls Trail may be the perfect option for you. This trail is 5.4 miles in total and is considered a moderately difficult hike, given the changes in elevation and occasionally rocky terrain. If you decide to hike this trail, make sure to bring drinking water along and wear sturdy shoes!

5. Elkmont Nature Trail

Yet another trail that is considered ideal for families, the Elkmont Nature Trail offers not only a relatively easy hike but also lots of historical sites that you can visit along the way. You will have a great time learning about the settlers who once called Elkmont home, seeing their cabins and other buildings, and enjoying your time among the natural beauty of the Smoky Mountains!

Now that you know about some great places to go hiking in the Smoky Mountains, you are ready to have a fantastic adventure of your own. Just make sure to stop by Five Oaks Farm Kitchen to fuel up and enjoy classic Southern cooking before you head out on the trails!
